Ever thought of other ways to save money on trendy sneakers? Well, this man certainly did. The brave man had reached out to a tattoo studio in Manchester for an exciting tattoo project, and with the help from 34-year-old tattoo artist Dean Gunther, the man’s vision finally came to life.
Gunther, who is originally from Belville in South Africa, has been living and working in Manchester for the past 5 years and has built a great reputation for his brilliant colour realism tattoo designs, and despite specializing in this particular style, that does not stop the artist from accepting other types of tattoo requests.
One of his more recent clients was “tired of paying for shoes every few months”, therefore had requested the tattooist to permanently ink his feet with his most favorite Nike trainers.
“I wanted to create the illusion that the person is wearing shoes, even though he's bare feet. It will definitely make you look twice, ”Gunther says.

This special piece took the artist a total of 10 hours to finish, as he spent his first two hours to solely draw the shoe design, and an extra eight hours to ink both feet. According to the tattoo artist himself, “a stencil would not work in this case,” therefore drawing the design was the most challenging part for him, as he needed to completely freehand the entire shoe design onto both feet.
Gunther, who has had his fair share of creating unusual designs was not startled by the man’s strange request, as one previous customer had asked him for a tattoo of fake six-pack abs as he was “tired of spending hours in the gym.”
