Have you ever had the thought of becoming a content creator but fear of getting backlash due to people disliking your content or maybe thoughts?

Most of the time, content creators look like they are having the time of their lives making videos, whether it be hanging out with friends, review of products or even making music covers but behind it all, there are haters who constantly dislike the video.

Very rarely we see someone with a lot of views have a ton of dislikes. But according to the List of most disliked YouTube videos wiki, the video with the most dislikes is ironically by YouTube themselves with their YouTube Rewind 2018: Everyone Controls Rewind with a whopping 19 Million dislikes (Editor B and I were two of the 19 million people who actually disliked the video).

Watch the cursed video below:

Even Justin Bieber’s song, Baby and Rebecca Black’s song Friday was disliked 12 million and 3.9 million times, respectively. Even Rebecca Black said that she wished she can talk to herself back then as her 13-year-old self was terribly ashamed of the video.

To some extents, dislikes does help identify videos that should not be on YouTube. If anyone recalls the infamous video of Logan Paul in Japan as people deemed it as an “insult to Japanese culture” and also one more for mocking the dead in the Japan suicide forest.

According to an announcement by the company, they are “testing a few new designs that don’t show the public dislike count”. A small group of people have been selected to aid in conducting the research where the video includes the dislike button but does not show the number of dislikes on the video to the public eye. However, the number of dislikes still shows up for the content creators via their creator studio (I think I may or may not have seen this recently).

YouTube also states that most of the test is in accordance with content creators’ feedback around well-being and targeted dislike campaigns”.

This is a good initiative by YouTube as we’ve seen many content creators take a break from their main channels such as Nigahiga (Ryan Higa) due to him and his friends breaking up the crew which was known as Ryan Higa Production Company (RHPC). He now frequently streams on Twitch.Tv and is seen playing games with other YouTubers and actively uploading on his 2nd channel known as HigaTV.

Meanwhile, people on the internet are going to get creative on how to show “dislikes” to the public as seen here.

I guess YouTube will need to work some stuff out cause it would be completely pointless to see if someone uses the comments section as the “dislike” button and in words of Editor B, “the comment sections will be more of the dislike section now and it’s not going to be ideal”. Let us know what you think of this in the comments.
