The US is still one of the countries with the highest number of deaths from the Covid-19 infection. It is estimated that according to New York medical examiner’s office, US Covid-19 deaths equals to having the 9/11 attacks every day for 66 days. Since the first case of death in the US on February 6th, there has been an average of 858+ deaths caused by the infection every day.
Currently, the total number of deaths in the US is more than 200,000 which has actually surpassed the number of American combat deaths in the country’s five previous wars combined. The graph below shows the five wars and the death tolls compared with Covid-19.
Also, according to University of Washington’s Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation (IHME), the first leading cause of death in the US is Heart Disease then Cancer comes in second and Covid-19 after, which is the third leading cause. The graph below shows the following details.
A year ago, nobody expected that 2020 would be like this. In 7 months, 200,000 people in the US have lost their lives due to this disease. It is expected that if the citizens do not obey social distancing rules, the death toll due to Covid-19 can increase up to 378,000 by 1st January 2020. In order to prevent this from happening, just as simple as wearing a mask can save 115,000 lives.
Taking this into account, Malaysians shall never be complacent with their SOPs at all!
