A feline named Dymka, was given a second chance to live after she was found by an anonymous kind-hearted lady. The lady was driving pass a snowbed in Novokuznetsk, Siberia, when she noticed this poor kitty left on the edge of dying.
The kitty was suffering from severe frostbites of her paws, ears and tails. FYI, frostbites in animals is a very common problem in Siberia :( Fortunately, instead of euthanising the poor kitty, a big-hearted vet decided that they should give the kitty a second chance in life, by aputating her paws, ears and tail.
With the help of researchers from Tomsk Polytechnic University (TPU), they created prothetics for the kitty with 3D printing. The prothetics were installed into the kitty's body with titanium implants connected to her leg bones. Dymka got the first set of prothetics in July 2019, and her second set in December 2019. This successful journey was recorded and shared by the clinic to the public.
Good news! The kitty is in safe hands now, she's now living with the lady who originally found her. This story is a lesson for all animal owners that are living in extreme climate, please do keep an eye on your pets, animals are precious!
