UCSI’s International Piano Festival and Competition Culminates with Exceptional Performances by Winners

What’s this about?

The 2nd International Piano Festival and Competition 2016 (IPFC) kicked off on the 23rd of April with the preliminary round of the competition and proceeded with the semi-final and final rounds held from 8-12 June, 2016. This event was organized by UCSI University’s Institute of Music and sponsored by Graceful Piano.

What were the highlights?

The contestants were aged between 7-25 years, a total of 116 contestants completed in four different categories – Junior, Intermediate, Senior and Young Artist, aiming to win the Best Etude Award in their respective categories. The festival aims to raise the standard of music throughout the region by providing exposure to these young pianists. The results were announced after an intense final round adjudicated by a distinguished panel of local and international musicians. Senior Professor Dato’ Dr Khalid Yusoff, UCSI University’s Vice Chancellor and President , and Dr P’ng Tean Hwa, Professor and Director of UCSI’s Institute of Music, presented a total of 4 music scholarships from the Institute of Music as well as RM10,800 cash prizes in total, to the winners. Along with that, the winners also received a Certificate of Achievement.
