After all the drama that former prime minister Najib has caused, which we should mention that it includes roughly RM1.69 Billion in unpaid taxes, his son Nazif has become the next target.
Not only does Nazif look like his good ol' daddy, but apparently tax evasion runs in the blood too...like RM37.6 Million worth!
The Inland Revenue Board (IRB) sent out a lawsuit against Anak Najib on behalf of the government at the Kuala Lumpur High Court Registry, two weeks back (24 JULY 2019), for apparently failing to pay up his taxes.
Where did all the money go leh??
Maybe his arm candy, Taiwanese actress Celia Zhang, made demands higher than he could afford?
Nazif is accused of failing to pay RM1,541,850.83, RM5,718,486.42, RM5,437,086.08, RM3,775,133.23, RM1,796,494.18, RM2,271,812.79, and RM12,052,046.26 as additional tax assessment for the years 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016 and 2017.
Damn... that's a total of RM32,592,909.79!
To add more salt to the wound, he was slapped with an extra 10% of the total (RM3.25 Million) for failing to make payment within the 30 days of receiving the assessment notice on 18 March 2019.
Now his total is: RM35.8 Million+
Oh but wait.. that's not all...
The pain is only beginning...
He failed to make payment within 60 days of the notice, so he was AGAIN slapped with another 5% (RM1.79 Million) MORE!
His total now amounts to: RM37,644,810.73
You think that's the end?
The government is also seeking five percent annual interest on the total from the date of judgment to the date of settlement, as well as costs and any other relief deemed fit by the court.
Nazif is going to be represented in court by law firm Messrs Shafee & Co, so he better hope he can find a worm hole to escape a lifetime of pain -- and he can definitely kiss any possible future with Celia goodbye.
So kids, remember to pay your taxes when you grow up...and on time.
You won't only guarantee a lifetime of being broke, but you may possibly lose the "love of your life" too...
